26 August 2022 – PT Widodo Makmur Unggas Tbk as an integrated poultry company in Indonesia experienced an increase in poultry carcass productivity in the first half of 2022. The increase in productivity was driven by an increase in the number of poultry carcass production by 0.8% year on year (YoY) from the same period the previous year, in line with efforts to maximize the capacity of the Company's poultry slaughterhouse (RPH). Carcass sales contributed to an increase in the company's revenue by 94.7% during the first half of 2022.
However, the net profit obtained from the Company's revenue for this period tends to decrease when compared to last year by -15.9% YoY triggered by an increase in poultry feed prices nationally. This condition is predicted to recover soon in the second half of 2022, in line with the Government's efforts to regulate national poultry feed prices. In addition, the Company also implements a number of strategic steps such as establishing long-term cooperation with the Company's customers from several segments, including HOREKA (Hotel Restaurant Café) to the chicken meat processing industry, in order to maintain sales price stability. To date, the Company's poultry business line has contributed the largest revenue to the Widodo Makmur Perkasa Group with a percentage of 59% in the first half of 2022.
CEO of PT Widodo Makmur Unggas Tbk, Ali Masadi said that the opportunity for the poultry industry in the country is still very good in the future. The rising price of beef in recent months has encouraged people to look for affordable protein source substitutions to meet people's daily needs.
"The country's poultry industry has market potential not only domestically but also internationally. In line with this, the Company is also preparing to export the Company's first poultry to the Southeast Asian market, namely Singapore. The preparation process is currently underway, and we are targeting exports to be carried out in the 2nd semester of this year," explained Ali.
